The Goblins are the most numerous of the ‘uncivilized’ or ‘monstrous’ races and, perhaps, the most highly viewed. Some of the ‘civilized’ peoples will consider a barbaric human the same as a goblin, indeed ‘Goblin-Bred’ is an insult throughout much of the world.
Goblins, while savage, brutal and carnivorous, are also mutable, and a highly changeable race. Besides some of the larger, more savage varieties, goblins have adapted to places other races would find hard to stomach; dark caverns, arid desserts, frozen wastes, poisonous swamps and so forth. Thus there are at least a dozen well known ‘sub-races’ of the Goblin Race, and probably more. That Goblins are one of the favourite servants for others, and especially for Wizards or mad alchemists looking to test new Mutagens, it’s hardly surprising that there are some sub-races whose existence can only be called magical, or absurd.
Some people speak of ‘civilized’ goblin tribes. Others scoff at the notion, but there are those who treat with goblins, and there are things to be gained from them.
